What is CBD?

CBD Hemp Oil is an oil extracted from the species of Cannabis plants known as C. Sativa subsp. indica which is commonly referred to as Hemp. It’s important to understand that while Marijuana is derived from an identical Cannabis species known as C. Sativa subsp. sativa, there is a major difference: Our unique Hemp strain of indica is grown specifically for the therapeutic health benefits without the intoxicant element. That’s because our plants contain extremely low levels of the psychoactive chemical THC. Instead, our unique Hemp strains are cultivated to provide high concentrations of CBD. CBD is short for Cannabidiol and it is one of 85 compounds found in Hemp that belong to a class of molecules called Cannabinoids. It’s a non-psychoactive compound–which means that it doesn’t give you a high–and it has significant medical and health benefits. The health benefits provided by CBD from both the indica and sativa species are identical.

FDA approved research & studies are only a few years old, Hemp has been considered an essential dietary supplement in societies throughout the world for thousands of years. Starting in Ancient China as a traditional herb, it spread out to India and then to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The concept of Medicinal Hemp was introduced to the Western world in the late 18th century when pharmaceutical companies began marketing CBD oils and tinctures for various diseases including pain, asthma, gout and as a sedative. It was later banned in the United States and other countries for various political and religious reasons in the middle of the 20th century.

You may still be wondering if CBD is right for you? That’s what we expected and that’s because we pose this question to all of our customers. We want the public—not just our customers—to stay educated on the latest scientific research on Hemp and not beyond it. Educating you also means not misinforming you and that means we have a strong ethical commitment to abide by all current laws and FDA guidelines.

FDA guidelines prohibit us from saying that CBD is a treatment for specific condition or disease, we can educate you about what CBD is known to do in the Endocannabinoid System and to understand how that system works.
